Marmot kicked off my vacation in style!
When I booked our family vacation at Tiller Lodge through Marmot Vacation Rentals, I quickly realized that this would not be like the other times I had booked a vacation house. Instead of simply setting up a time to drop off the keys, Elaine, a member of the Marmot staff, called me to ask if I would be taking advantage of the concierge service.
I must have let on that I had no idea what she was talking about, because Elaine calmly explained to me that they provide numerous concierge services for their guests. She said that they will do everything from book dinner reservations to go grocery shopping and set up events and activities to participate in throughout your week. When she told me about the warm welcome package, it sounded like a great idea to me.
The Marmot staff will go grocery shopping on your behalf, leaving the items in the refrigerator of your vacation rentals and even pick up dinner and have it waiting on the table when you arrive. Because I have three small children and we were bringing the family dog, I was particularly dreading that beginning of the vacation grocery shopping trip – I couldn’t have signed up fast enough.
I thought it was really cool that Tiller Lodge allows dogs, since arranging a pet sitter for our Golden Retriever Jake is always a bit of a headache. I was elated when Elaine offered to give me a list of trustworthy dog walkers in the area. Now we could enjoy a full day of skiing at Diamond Peak without worrying about rushing home to walk Jake.
Before we left, I emailed a list of the essentials to Elaine. Even though the list included a wide variety of foods, from Frosted Flakes (vacation is the only time my kids are allowed to eat sugary cereal) to the specific brand of soy milk that my youngest son Dawson drinks, the Marmot team was able to track every single item down.
When she found out that we were planning on arriving in the late afternoon, Elaine asked if we would be hungry when we arrived, and offered to pick up dinner for us. I couldn’t think of anything better than getting out of the car after a four hour drive with three kids, a husband and a rambunctious Golden Retriever than being able to sit down to hot food!
As soon as we arrived, Elaine met us at the door and gave the family a tour of the entire house. The attention to detail was incredible. Cut flowers were sitting in a vase on the table in the entryway, and the house was in perfect shape. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the smell of the delicious dinner she’d picked up for us warming in the oven, and knew that it would be delicious.
Elaine had gone to Lanza’s Italian, a North Lake Tahoe eatery that’s known for its authentic family style meals. When I told her that Dawson is lactose intolerant, she suggested that we order a plate of plain pasta – which they make by hand every day – with red sauce for him, and recommended the chicken parmesan for the rest of the family.
Before she left us to enjoy the house, Elaine gave us some recommendations and made reservations at a few of the best restaurants in town. She thought of everything and even offered to give us a tour of Incline Village!
I can honestly say that coming to a fully stocked house with dinner on the table was one of the best ways to kick off a vacation ever. We had a wonderful stay at Tiller Lodge and will definitely be back again!
